Mother of three self-immolates in Tibet

A young Tibetan woman died after setting herself afire in western China in the latest incident of pro-democracy protesters self-immolating, a rights group has said. The latest incident coincided with reports claiming that many Tibetans were detained in Lhasa following the case where two Tibetans self-immolated in front of a famous temple in the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) earlier this week.
More than 30 monks and civilians have self-immolated in the last one year.

German teen Shouryya Ray solves 300-year-old mathematical riddle posed by Sir Isaac Newton


A GERMAN 16-year-old has become the first person to solve a mathematical problem posed by Sir Isaac Newton more than 300 years ago.

Shouryya Ray worked out how to calculate exactly the path of a projectile under gravity and subject to air resistance, The (London) Sunday Times reported.

‘India capable of making missiles with 8,000 km range’


Bangalore: India is capable of developing missiles that can hit targets located at more than 8,000 km away, a top official on Wednesday said.

Drogba confirms exit from Chelsea by June end


London: Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba confirmed on Tuesday he will leave newly-crowned European champions Chelsea when his contract expires at the end of June.

Viruses used to power tiny device

Scientists in the US have developed a way to generate electricity using viruses.
The researchers built a generator with a postage stamp-sized electrode and based on a small film of specially engineered viruses.

Assam boat tragedy: Search on for hundreds still missing

Dhubri, Assam:  Search operations are on for more than 100 people who are still missing after a over packed steamer carrying at least 250 passengers sank in the Brahmaputra river in Assam on Monday after being caught in a severe storm.
