NEW DELHI: The resignation of Justice Soumitra Sen, who was due to face impeachmentproceedings in Lok Sabha on Monday, has been accepted.
President Pratibha Patil on Sunday signed a notification accepting Soumitra Sen's resignation as Calcutta high court judge.
However, there is still suspense over the fate of impeachment proceedings against Justice Sen in the Lok Sabha, where it is scheduled to be taken up on Monday.
According to TV reports, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will call an all-party meet on Monday to take a final decision on the issue.
Rajya Sabha has already voted overhwemingly on August 18 to impeach the judge for "misconduct" and "misappropriation of funds" as a court receiver.
