Morena: An Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Narendra
Kumar posted in Morena was killed today allegedly by members of the mining
mafia.
According
to reports, a tractor carrying minerals and ores that was being illegally
mined, was stopped by the officer, Narendra kumar. There was a legal order to
check the tractor trolley but the driver resisted.
Mr Kumar, reportedly got out of his car and stood in front of the tractor to stop it from escaping.

The
officer had reportedly complained on several occasions to his seniors in Bhopal
about the rampant loot of sand and boulders from the Chambal region and wasn't
getting any support.
The
state Home Minister, Umashankar Gupta, has now rushed to Gwalior to take stock
of the situation.
"The driver has been arrested; we will hold an inquiry. We will take action against those responsible," he said.
Mr Kumar was an IPS officer from the 2009 batch. He was a posted as a sub-divisional police officer in Bamor in Morena district. His wife, an IAS officer in Madhya Pradesh, is pregnant and was in Delhi right when the incident took place.
